The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, Transit Division (Shore Transit), operating community transit services in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties is offering the opportunity for a public hearing to provide citizens a forum to present views on the following proposals:

1. The Section 5310 of the Federal Transit Act which provides funds for new public transportation services and Public transportation alternatives that assist individuals with disabilities and seniors (including veterans and people with lower income) with their transportation needs; Free Rides for Veterans for Demand Response (medical rides) and Fixed Routes; and Family and Friends Program

Mobility Management and ADA Coordination/Certification - $393,700
Family and Friends Program - $70,800
Free Rides for Veterans ( fixed rides, medical rides) Program - $ 130,000
          2. The Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Act which provides funds for general public transit 

              service in rural areas; Voucher Program $190,000

          3. The Statewide Special Transportation Assistance Program (SSTAP) which provides funds for 
              transportation of elderly persons and persons with disabilities in Wicomico and Worcester

          4. The Section 5307 of the Federal Transit Act which provides funds for general public transit
                 service in urbanized areas;

          5. The State Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program which provides funds for the
                 federally-required paratransit services for persons with disabilities.


In addition, capital funds will be requested for the following items:

 Preventive Maintenance
 3 Small Cutaway Buses
 2 Medium Duty Buses
 2 Mini-Vans w/ wheelchair ramp
 Maintenance Equipment
 Dump Trailer
 24 x 28 Portable Storage Shed
 Computer Hardware
 Computer Software

A Public Hearing will only be held upon request.  Requests for a Public Hearing must be in writing and will be received until Thursday, February 19, 2015.  Requests for a Public Hearing and/or other written comments should be sent to the following address and clearly marked “Public Hearing Comments”:
