NOTICE OF OPPORTUNITY FOR A PUBLIC HEARING
The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, Transit Division (Shore Transit), operating community transit services in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties is offering the opportunity for a public hearing to provide citizens a forum to present views on the following proposals:
- Dollar Saturdays - Shore Transit is proposing to offer $1.00 fares every Saturday for a six month period beginning June 4, 2011. This proposal has been reviewed by the Shore Transit Advisory Board and the Tri-County Council and awaits input from the general public.
This proposal reduces the standard fare by $2.00 per ride on any given Saturday throughout the six month period.
Those previously qualified for discounts (seniors and persons with disabilities) will be offered a $.50 fare on any given Saturday throughout the six month period.
This promotion is being offered to help introduce new riders to public transit and as an incentive for current riders to use public transit more often.
- Weekday, early morning, Work Express Runs. If approved, this express run would have a fare of $5.00 and could run in the Regional Route areas serving Salisbury, Pocomoke and Ocean City, depending upon demand.
A public Hearing will be held upon request. Requests for a Public Hearing must be in writing and will be received until Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Requests for a Public Hearing and/or other written comments should be sent to the following address and clearly marked “Public Hearing Comments”:
